A RESOLUTION
Designating April 24, 2017, as "Motorsports Day" in
Pennsylvania.
WHEREAS, Pennsylvania has a long, rich history of motorsports
of all types; and
WHEREAS, This Commonwealth has benefited economically from
the longtime investments of a range of businesses that are
involved in the production and engineering of many motorsport
vehicles used in racing today; and
WHEREAS, Pennsylvania is one of two states with the highest
number of National Association for Stock Car Auto Racing
(NASCAR) fans, and approximately 20 chapters of the Official
NASCAR Members Clubs are located in this Commonwealth; and
WHEREAS, In terms of number of racetracks, this Commonwealth
ranks among the top five states in the country; and
WHEREAS, Pennsylvania is home to Pocono Raceway, the host of
one INDYCAR event and two Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series
events, and numerous smaller tracks located throughout this

Commonwealth which continue to contribute and hold events for
all types of motorsports; therefore be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate of Pennsylvania designate April 24,
2017, as "Motorsports Day" in Pennsylvania.
