A RESOLUTION
Recognizing the month of March 2017 as "National Athletic
Training Month" in Pennsylvania.
WHEREAS, Quality health care is vital for individuals
involved in physical activity; and
WHEREAS, Licensed athletic trainers have a long history of
providing quality health care for athletes and individuals
engaged in physical activity based on specific tasks, knowledge
and skills acquired through nationally regulated educational
processes; and
WHEREAS, Athletic training involves prevention of injuries,
recognition, evaluation and aggressive rehabilitation, health
care administration, education, research and guidance; and
WHEREAS, Athletic training was recognized by the American
Medical Association in 1990 as an allied health care profession;
and
WHEREAS, The National Athletic Trainers' Association
represents and supports more than 43,000 members of the athletic
training profession employed in professional sports, colleges

and universities, high schools, clinics and hospitals, corporate
and industrial settings and the military; and
WHEREAS, Leading organizations have joined together to raise
public awareness of athletic training and emphasize the
importance of quality health care for athletes and individuals
engaged in physical activity, with the aim of improving health
care for athletes and physically active individuals and
promoting licensed athletic trainers as allied health
professionals; therefore be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate recognize the month of March 2017
as "National Athletic Training Month" in Pennsylvania.
