A RESOLUTION
Recognizing Gold Star Families and honoring the sacrifices made
by families of fallen members of the armed forces of the
United States.
WHEREAS, The United States Department of Defense distributes
a Gold Star Lapel Button, also called a Gold Star Lapel Pin, to
the immediate family of a service member who has died in a
conflict or in support of certain military operations; and
WHEREAS, The pin is distributed according to strict
Department of Defense guidelines; and
WHEREAS, Gold Star Wives of America, Inc., represents the
spouses and families of members and veterans of the armed forces
of the United States; and
WHEREAS, The primary mission of Gold Star Wives of America,
Inc., is to provide services, support and friendship to the
spouses of fallen members and veterans of the armed forces of
the United States; and
WHEREAS, An event to recognize and show appreciation to Gold
Star Families in the 79th and 80th legislative districts will be

held on May 19, 2017, as part of National Military Appreciation
Month; and
WHEREAS, The sacrifices of these families should never be
forgotten; therefore be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives recognize Gold
Star Families and honor the sacrifices made by the spouses and
families of fallen members of the armed forces of the United
States.
