SEPTEMBER 5, 2017
A RESOLUTION
Designating the weeks of August 28 through September 1, 2017,
and September 4 through September 8, 2017, as "Back to School
Weeks" in Pennsylvania.
WHEREAS, The Constitution of Pennsylvania declares that the
General Assembly shall provide for the maintenance and support
of a thorough and efficient system of public education to serve
the needs of the students and families of this Commonwealth; and
WHEREAS, Education is a primary concern of the Commonwealth
and the members of the House of Representatives, who are
instrumental in assuring the quality of Pennsylvania schools;
and
WHEREAS, The House of Representatives supports education
initiatives that foster healthy intellectual and educational
development among students; and
WHEREAS, Pennsylvania is comprised of 500 school districts,
with more than 5,500 schools educating students from

kindergarten through 12th grade; and
WHEREAS, "Back to School Weeks" mark the official end of
summer and the start of a new and challenging school year for
students, parents, teachers and school administrations; and
WHEREAS, The House of Representatives supports students
across this Commonwealth and encourages them to embrace learning
and to enjoy the school year ahead; therefore be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives designate the
weeks of August 28 through September 1, 2017, and September 4
through September 8, 2017, as "Back to School Weeks" in
Pennsylvania.
