A RESOLUTION
Congratulating The Pennsylvania State University men's outdoor
track and field team for winning the Big Ten Championship on
May 14, 2017.
WHEREAS, The Pennsylvania State University men's outdoor
track and field team stormed its way to victory and won its
first Big Ten Championship in team history; and
WHEREAS, The team's previous best finish in the competition
was third in 2001; and
WHEREAS, The championship team finished with a total score of
117 points, defeating its next closest competitors, the Ohio
State University Buckeyes, by 14 points; and
WHEREAS, Most Valuable Player Malik Moffett handed the team
two first-place finishes, one in the 200-meter dash and the
other in the long jump, and a sixth-place finish in the 100-
meter dash; and

WHEREAS, MVP Moffett earned 23 points, the most points scored
by any athlete on Penn State's men's outdoor track and field
team; and
WHEREAS, Isaiah Harris won his fourth consecutive 800-meter
title with a time of 1:49.68 and anchored the 1,600-meter relay
team in its silver medal finish; and
WHEREAS, Coach John Gondak of the Nittany Lions claimed his
second conference title following the Penn State Women's indoor
track and field team's championship win on February 25, 2017;
and
WHEREAS, Coach Gondak was unanimously named Big Ten Men's
Outdoor Track and Field Coach of the Year; and
WHEREAS, The Big Ten Championship is a testament to the hard
work, dedication and perseverance of all team members and
coaches; therefore be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives congratulate the
Pennsylvania State University men's outdoor track and field team
for winning the Big Ten Championship on May 14, 2017.
