A RESOLUTION
Recognizing May 25, 2017, as "Red Nose Day" in Pennsylvania.
WHEREAS, "Red Nose Day" began more than 25 years ago as a way
to provide essential services to children in impoverished
communities all around the world; and
WHEREAS, "Red Nose Day," in association with Walgreens,
provides food, clothing, shelter and medical care to help get
children off the streets; and
WHEREAS, Through this program, children in developing
countries are provided with tuition, supplies and textbooks in
order to enhance their access to education; and
WHEREAS, At-risk children are given a safe place to learn and
play during the summer and after school; and
WHEREAS, Hungry children are given meals through Feeding
America food banks; and
WHEREAS, All 50 states and many global communities are given

support to help nurture their youth; and
WHEREAS, In 2016, 2,659,642 children's lives were positively
impacted by the "Red Nose Day" initiative; and
WHEREAS, Since 2015, "Red Nose Day" in America has raised
more than $60 million to help kids and young people most in
need; therefore be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives recognize May 25,
2017, as "Red Nose Day" in Pennsylvania; and be it further
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives acknowledge the
positive impact "Red Nose Day" has on children living in poverty
in Pennsylvania, the United States and around the world.
