A RESOLUTION
Congratulating The Pennsylvania State University men's ice
hockey team on winning its first Big Ten Championship and on
its continued success both athletically and academically.
WHEREAS, On March 19, 2017, the Penn State men's ice hockey
team defeated Wisconsin by a score of 2-1 to win its first Big
Ten Championship; and
WHEREAS, The win was the team's second consecutive double-
overtime game; and
WHEREAS, Liam Folkes scored his second goal of the game 6
minutes and 43 seconds into the second overtime to clinch the
conference's automatic qualifier to the NCAA Tournament; and
WHEREAS, Freshman goalie Peyton Jones was named the
Tournament Most Outstanding Player after he made 51 saves in his
second consecutive game; and
WHEREAS, Penn State players Peyton Jones, Liam Folkes, Vince

Pedrie and Erik Autio were named members of the 2017 Big Ten
All-Tournament Team; and
WHEREAS, During the 2016-2017 season, the Penn State men's
hockey team set a program record with 25 wins; and
WHEREAS, The Penn State men's hockey team also finished
second in Division I in goals per game, went on a 13-game
undefeated streak and rose to a number one ranking in January
2017; and
WHEREAS, Fourteen hockey players on Penn State's 28-person
roster were named to the Academic All-Big Ten Conference team;
therefore be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives congratulate The
Pennsylvania State University men's ice hockey team on winning
its first Big Ten Championship and on its continued success both
athletically and academically.
