A RESOLUTION
Recognizing the week of April 24 through 28, 2017, as "Week of
the Young Child" in Pennsylvania.
WHEREAS, The United Way of York County and the York Area
Association for the Eduction of Young Children and other local
organizations, in conjunction with the National Association for
the Education of Young Children (NAEYC), are celebrating "Week
of the Young Child," April 24 through 28, 2017; and
WHEREAS, These organizations are working to improve early
learning opportunities that are crucial to the growth and
development of young children and to building better futures for
everyone in York County and for others in this Commonwealth and
throughout the United States; and
WHEREAS, "Week of the Young Child" is an annual celebration
sponsored by NAEYC celebrating early learning, young children,
their teachers and families; and

WHEREAS, The purpose of "Week of the Young Child" is to focus
public attention on the needs of young children and their
families and to recognize the early childhood programs and
services that meet those needs; and
WHEREAS, NAEYC first established "Week of the Young Child" in
1971, recognizing that the early childhood years, from birth
through eight years of age, lay the foundation for children's
success in school and later in life; and
WHEREAS, "Week of the Young Child" is a time to plan how we,
as residents of a community, State and nation, will better meet
the needs of all young children and their families; and
WHEREAS, All young children and their families deserve access
to high-quality early education and care; therefore be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives recognize the
week of April 24 through 28, 2017, as "Week of the Young Child"
in Pennsylvania, and encourage all residents to work to make a
good investment in early childhood education in York County,
across this Commonwealth and this nation; and be it further
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives recognize and
support the people, programs and policies that are committed to
high-quality early childhood education as the right choice for
young children.
