A RESOLUTION
Designating March 8, 2017, as "Registered Dietitian Nutritionist
Day" in Pennsylvania.
WHEREAS, Registered dietitian nutritionists are the food and
nutrition experts who translate the science of nutrition into
practical solutions for healthy living; and
WHEREAS, Registered dietitian nutritionists have degrees in
nutrition, dietetics, public health or a related field from
well-respected, accredited colleges and universities; and
WHEREAS, Registered dietitian nutritionists have completed an
accredited supervised practice program, passed a national
examination and completed continuing professional education
requirements to earn the registered dietitian nutritionist
credential; and
WHEREAS, Registered dietitian nutritionists form an important
part of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, and the academy
is recognizing the month of March 2017 as "National Nutrition

Month" and March 8, 2017, as "National Registered Dietitian
Nutritionist Day"; and
WHEREAS, The theme for this year's "National Nutrition Month"
is "Put Your Best Fork Forward," which serves as a reminder that
each one of us holds the tool to make healthier food choices;
and
WHEREAS, Pennsylvania licenses many registered dietitian
nutritionists yearly to work in hospitals, schools, public
health clinics, nursing homes, fitness centers, the food
industry, universities and other entities; and
WHEREAS, Approximately 3,700 residents of this Commonwealth
are members of the Pennsylvania Academy of Nutrition and
Dietetics, which is an affiliate of the Academy of Nutrition and
Dietetics and advocates for promotion of optimal nutrition,
health and well-being in this Commonwealth; therefore be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives designate March
8, 2017, as "Registered Dietitian Nutritionist Day" in
Pennsylvania; and be it further
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives laud the
Pennsylvania Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, all of its
members and other registered dietitian nutritionists in this
Commonwealth for their daily work to promote good nutrition,
good eating and quality living for individuals in this
Commonwealth and for their ongoing efforts to inform all
residents of how to "Put Your Best Fork Forward."
