AN ACT
Amending the act of March 10, 1949 (P.L.30, No.14), entitled "An
act relating to the public school system, including certain
provisions applicable as well to private and parochial
schools; amending, revising, consolidating and changing the
laws relating thereto," in school health services, further
providing for employment of school health personnel.
The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
hereby enacts as follows:
Section 1. Section 1410 of the act of March 10, 1949
(P.L.30, No.14), known as the Public School Code of 1949, is
amended by adding a subsection to read:
Section 1410. Employment of School Health Personnel.--* * *
(c) An area vocational-technical school may authorize a
licensed registered nurse or a licensed practical nurse to
administer medication to a student under the supervision of the
school nurse employed by the school district in which the area
vocational-technical school is located, provided that all of the
following conditions are met:
(1) The licensed registered nurse or licensed practical

nurse is employed by the area vocational-technical school to
teach a course.
(2) The student being administered medication is currently
enrolled in an approved program at the area vocational-technical
school.
Section 2. This act shall take effect in 60 days.
