AN ACT
Amending Title 18 (Crimes and Offenses) of the Pennsylvania
Consolidated Statutes, in other offenses, providing for the
offense of failure to report death.
The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
hereby enacts as follows:
Section 1. Title 18 of the Pennsylvania Consolidated
Statutes is amended by adding a section to read:
ยง 7518. Failure to report death.
(a) Offense defined.--A person is guilty of a misdemeanor of
the third degree if, upon witnessing the death of an individual
or discovering the body of an individual the person knows or has
reason to believe is dead, the person fails to timely notify a
911 system, physician or other medical professional, law
enforcement agency or funeral home.
(b) Exception.--Subsection (a) shall not apply if the person
knows or has reason to believe that a 911 system, physician or
other medical professional, law enforcement agency or funeral
home has been notified of the death of the individual or
