AN ACT
Amending Title 74 (Transportation) of the Pennsylvania
Consolidated Statutes, in Pennsylvania Turnpike, providing
for recycling containers.
The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
hereby enacts as follows:
Section 1. Title 74 of the Pennsylvania Consolidated
Statutes is amended by adding a section to read:
§ 8124. Recycling containers.
(a) Availability.--If a trash receptacle is maintained for
users of a public rest area under the jurisdiction of the
commission, the commission shall maintain in close proximity to
the trash receptacle a container for collecting glass, a
container for collecting aluminum and a container for collecting
plastic. The commission shall establish, with the local county
recycling coordinator, a method of transporting the collected
recyclable materials to their respective markets in conjunction
with local existing recycling programs.

(b) Proceeds.--The commission shall retain all proceeds
received from the recycling of items under subsection (a).
Section 2. The Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission shall
implement 74 Pa.C.S. § 8124 within 365 days of the effective
date of this section.
Section 3. This act shall take effect in 60 days.
