AN ACT
Amending the act of March 10, 1949 (P.L.30, No.14), entitled "An
act relating to the public school system, including certain
provisions applicable as well to private and parochial
schools; amending, revising, consolidating and changing the
laws relating thereto," in pupils and attendance, further
providing for required immunization.
Section 1. Section 1303 of the act of March 10, 1949
(P.L.30, No.14), known as the Public School Code of 1949, is
amended by adding a subsection to read:
Section 1303. Immunization Required; Penalty.--* * *
(a.1) The Department of Health shall adopt a regulation
requiring students, upon entering grade seven and grade twelve
at any public, private, parochial or other school, to receive
immunizations containing meningococcal vaccines that meet the
standards approved by the Public Health Service for the
biological products and is in accordance with the
recommendations of the Centers for Disease Control and
Prevention's Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices. The
Department of Health shall amend the regulation under this
subsection if the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's

Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices updates its
corresponding recommendations for adolescent immunization.

Section 2. This act shall take effect as follows:
(1) The addition of section 1303(a.1) of the act shall
take effect six months after publication of the final
regulation under section 1303(a.1) of the act.
(2) The remainder of this act shall take effect
immediately.
