AN ACT

 

1Amending Title 75 (Vehicles) of the Pennsylvania Consolidated
2Statutes, in registration of vehicles, providing for special
3plates for honorary consuls and official representatives of
4foreign governments.

5The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
6hereby enacts as follows:

7Section 1. Title 75 of the Pennsylvania Consolidated
8Statutes is amended by adding a section to read:

9§ 1369.1. Special plates for honorary consuls and official
10representatives of foreign governments.

11(a) General rule.--Upon application of any person who is an
12honorary consul or official representative of a foreign
13government, accompanied by a fee of $20 which shall be in
14addition to the annual registration fee and by such
15documentation as required under subsection (b), the department
16shall issue to the person a special registration plate
17designating the vehicle so licensed as belonging to a person who
18is an honorary consul or official representative of a foreign
19government. The special registration plate shall be of a

1distinguishing color and separate numerical series. The special
2registration plate may be used only on a passenger car or truck
3with a registered gross weight of not more than 10,000 pounds.

4(b) Documentation required.--The documentation required
5under subsection (a) shall consist of a copy of the honorary
6consul identification card or a copy of the exequatur issued by
7the United States Department of State and any other
8documentation deemed necessary by the department.

9(c) Return of special registration plate.--A person who has
10been issued a special registration plate under this section
11shall return it to the department if it is no longer in use or
12the person is no longer an honorary consul or official
13representative of the foreign government indicated on the
14documentation submitted to the department.

15Section 2. This act shall take effect in 60 days.
