AN ACT

Amending Title 42 (Judiciary and Judicial Procedure) of the

Pennsylvania Consolidated Statutes, further providing for

3

problem-solving courts.

The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania

5

hereby enacts as follows:

Section 1.  Section 916 of Title 42 of the Pennsylvania

7

Consolidated Statutes is amended by adding a subsection to read:

§ 916.  Problem-solving courts.

(d)  Imposition of surcharge.--A defendant convicted of an

11

offense in a problem-solving court established in the First

12

Judicial District may be ordered by that particular problem-

13

solving court to pay a surcharge of $25, which shall be

14

collected in the same manner as other court costs. In addition

15

to any grants or other money that may become available through

16

public or private sources, the money collected through this

17

surcharge shall be used by the county to fund the problem-

18

solving court or courts and the related treatment services.

Section 2.  This act shall take effect in 60 days.
