| AN ACT |
| |
1 | Amending Title 66 (Public Utilities) of the Pennsylvania |
2 | Consolidated Statutes, in responsible utility customer |
3 | protection, further providing for termination of utility |
4 | service. |
5 | The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania |
6 | hereby enacts as follows: |
7 | Section 1. Section 1406(g) of Title 66 of the Pennsylvania |
8 | Consolidated Statutes is amended to read: |
9 | § 1406. Termination of utility service. |

11 | (g) Qualification for LIHEAP.-- |
12 | (1) A notice of termination to a customer of a public |
13 | utility shall be sufficient proof of a crisis for a customer |
14 | with the requisite income level to receive a LIHEAP Crisis |
15 | Grant from the Department of Public Welfare or its designee. |
16 | (2) It shall be a condition of acceptance by a public |
17 | utility of a LIHEAP Crisis Grant from the Department of |
18 | Public Welfare or its designee that the public utility will |
19 | not terminate service to the customer within 60 days of |

1 | acceptance of the grant and will enter into a payment |
2 | agreement under section 1405(d) (relating to payment |
3 | agreements) or, notwithstanding the provisions of section |
4 | 1405(d), a second or subsequent payment agreement with the |
5 | customer for payment of that portion of the bill which is not |
6 | in dispute. |

8 | Section 2. This act shall take effect in 60 days. |
