AN ACT 1 Amending the act of June 5, 1941 (P.L.84), entitled "An act 2 providing for and regulating the appointment, promotion and 3 reduction in rank, suspension and removal of paid members of 4 the police force in boroughs, incorporated towns and 5 townships of the first class maintaining a police force of 6 not less than three members; creating a civil service 7 commission in each borough, incorporated town and township of 8 the first class; defining the duties of such civil service 9 commission; imposing certain duties and expenses on boroughs, 10 incorporated towns and townships of the first class; imposing 11 penalties, and repealing inconsistent laws," reducing certain 12 age requirements. 13 The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania 14 hereby enacts as follows: 15 Section 1. Section 15, act of June 5, 1941 (P.L.84), 16 entitled "An act providing for and regulating the appointment, 17 promotion and reduction in rank, suspension and removal of paid 18 members of the police force in boroughs, incorporated towns and 19 townships of the first class maintaining a police force of not 20 less than three members; creating a civil service commission in 21 each borough, incorporated town and township of the first class; 22 defining the duties of such civil service commission; imposing 23 certain duties and expense on boroughs, incorporated towns and
1 townships of the first class; imposing penalties, and repealing
2 inconsistent laws," is amended to read:
3 Section 15. Age; Applicant's Residence.--No person shall be
4 eligible to apply for examination unless he is more than
5 [twenty-one] eighteen years of age at the date of application
6 and has been a resident of the municipality for at least one
7 year preceding immediately his application, unless no resident
8 applicants are available.
