Amend Bill, page 1, line 2, by inserting after "Statutes, "
in general provisions, further providing for definitions; and,
Amend Bill, page 1, lines 7 and 8, by striking out all of
said lines and inserting
Section 1. Section 102 of Title 75 of the Pennsylvania
Consolidated Statutes is amended by adding a definition to read:
ยง 102. Definitions.
Subject to additional definitions contained in subsequent
provisions of this title which are applicable to specific
provisions of this title, the following words and phrases when
used in this title shall have, unless the context clearly
indicates otherwise, the meanings given to them in this section:

"Automated speed enforcement system." An electronic traffic
sensor system that:
(1) is able to automatically detect vehicles exceeding
the posted speed limit with a type of speed timing device;
and
(2) records the vehicle's rear license plate, location,
date, time and speed.

Section 2. Title 75 is amended by adding a section to read:

which regulations may include the use of radio-microwave
devices, commonly referred to as electronic speed meters or
radar, or light detection and ranging devices, commonly
referred to as lidar, in their operations.
(2) Notwithstanding any other provision of law, the
devices identified in paragraph (1) shall be tested for
accuracy at regular intervals as designated by regulation of
the department.
