WALTON, Joseph, a Representative from Allegheny County; born in Westmoreland County, Pa., March 24, 1826; woodwright, planing mill; lumberman; coal operator (1856-1892); elected as a Republican to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 1870 term; not a candidate for reelection to the House for the 1871 term; elected, council, Allegheny City (now Pittsburgh) (1874-1876); elected, school board, Allegheny City (24 years); organized, The National Bank of Birmingham; president, Farmers’ Deposit National Bank (1880-1892); organized, Pittsburgh, Virginia & Charleston Railroads; hotel proprietor; died, December 5, 1892 in Allegheny City (now Pittsburgh), Allegheny County, Pennsylvania; interred, Allegheny Cemetery, Pittsburgh, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania.
