WHITE, David Nye, a Representative from Allegheny County; born, August 22, 1805 in Wareham, Plymouth County, Ma.; printer; owner and editor, The Signal, Hancock, Il. (1840); owner and editor, The Pittsburgh Daily Gazette (1841-1844); elected, school director, council and burgess, Sewickley; collector of Internal revenue, Twenty-Third district of Pennsylvania; superintendent, Sewickley Cemetery; publisher, Conference Journal (now the Christian Advocate); elected as a Republican to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 1870, 1871 and 1872 terms; not a candidate for reelection to the House for the 1873 term; elected, delegate-at-large, Pennsylvania Constitutional Convention (1872-1873); died, April 1, 1888 in Sewickley, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania; interred, Sewickley Cemetery, Sewickley, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania.
