McCORMICK, Henry H., a Representative from Allegheny County; born, November 24, 1840 in Stewartsville, Westmoreland County, Pa.; attended, Irwin Academy; attended, New Derry Normal School; first sergeant, Company F, 22nd Regiment, Pennsylvania Emergency Militia (1862, Civil War), corporal, Company C, 54th Regiment, Pennsylvania Volunteer Militia (1863, Civil War); second lieutenant, Battery L, 212th Regiment, 6th Pennsylvania Heavy Artillery (1864-1865, Civil War); lawyer (1866-1885); elected as a Republican to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 1873 and 1874 terms; appointed, Congressional Apportionment Committee (1873), elected, Speaker (1874); not a candidate for reelection to the House for the 1875 term; appointed, United States Attorney, Western District of Pennsylvania (1876-1882); died, April 19, 1885 in Pittsburgh, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania; interred, Cadiz Union Cemetery, Cadiz, Harrison County, Ohio.
