MARLAND, Alfred Henry, a Representative from Allegheny County; born, March 2, 1837 in Ashton-Under-Lyne, Greater Manchester County, England; engineer, cotton factory; machinist; superintendent, Standard Nut Company; partner, Marland, Neely, & Co., machine part manufacturers; elected, council, 32nd Ward, Pittsburgh; elected to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives as a Republican in 1888; not a candidate for reelection to the House (1890); unsuccessful campaign for reelection to the House (1892); died, April 2, 1914 in Ponca City, Kay County, Oklahoma; interred, Mt. Lebanon Cemetery, Pittsburgh, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania.
