Early Life:

James Sill born November 11, 1829; son of Thomas Hale and Joanna Boylston Chase Sill; Erie Academy; studied law under his father, Thomas H. Sill, Esquire; State and National Law School, New York; admitted, Erie County bar, where he has since practiced; district attorney of Erie County, 1857-1860; presidential elector, 1868; solicitor, city of Erie, 1871-1872; elected, Republican, Pennsylvania State Senate, 1881-1884; died, January 6, 1903 (aged 73), Erie County, Pennsylvania; interment, Erie Cemetery, Erie, Erie County, Pennsylvania.
