Early Life:

Henry Wertz, Jr. born 1753, Bedford, Bedford County, Province of Pennsylvania, British Colonial America; son of Henry Sr. and Mary Ann Nagle Wertz; United States postmaster, Bedford, Pennsylvania; unsuccessful campaign, Pennsylvania State House of Representatives, Bedford County, 1802; elected, Constitutionalist (Quid), Pennsylvania State Senate, 1805-1808; married, Margaret Stephens; apparently moved to Ohio area; died, January 21, 1824, Darke County, Ohio. Burial location unknown.

Unsuccessful campaign, Pennsylvania State House of Representatives, Bedford County, 1802

Elected, Constitutionalist (Quid), 12th district, Pennsylvania State Senate, Bedford, Huntingdon and Somerset Counties, 1805-1807, received votes under the name of Henry Wertz and Henry Wertz, Jr. The Senate ruled in his favor and seated him, session 1805-1806; elected, Conventionalists (Democratic-Republican), 12th district, Pennsylvania State Senate, Bedford, Huntingdon and Somerset Counties, 1807-1808.
