President Judge Alexander King, born September 27, 1805, Huntingdon County, son of John and Christina Bergstresser King; public school education; Bedford Academy; read law with John Johnson, Huntingdon County; admitted, Bedford County Bar, 1833; relocated, practiced law, Saint Louis, Missouri, 1840-1842; returned to Bedford, Pennsylvania, established, law practice; married, Mary Jane Watson, children, Infant King, Christine King Reamer, Eliza Hartley King, Alexander King, Jr., Susan Van Lear King; elected, Whig, Pennsylvania State Senate, 1848-1850; appointed, President Judge, 16th Judicial District, 1861; reelected, President Judge, 16th Judicial District, ten-year term, 1864; died, during that term in Blair County, January 10, 1871 (aged 65) Bedford County, Pennsylvania; interment, Bedford Cemetery, Bedford, Bedford County, Pennsylvania.
