Horatio Gates Jones, born January 9, 1822, Roxborough, Philadelphia, Philadelphia County, Pennsylvania; son of Reverend Horatio Gates and Deborah (Levering) Jones; educated common schools, Haddington College, United Kingdom; University of Pennsylvania, 1843; admitted, Philadelphia bar, 1847; Brown University, Rhode Island, Honorary M.A., 1863; married  Caroline Elizabeth Vanar Babcock Jones; elected, Republican, Pennsylvania State Senate, 1875-1882; died, March 14, 1893 (aged 71) Roxborough, Philadelphia County, Pennsylvania, interment Leverington Cemetery, Roxborough, Philadelphia County, Pennsylvania.
