Elias Hicks Irish, born August 20, 1830; son of William Beckford and Lydia Cadwalader Irish; Washington College (now Washington and Jefferson College) B.A., law; attorney, 1854-1865; elected, Republican, Pennsylvania State House of Representatives, 1859 term, not a candidate for reelection, 1860 term; elected, Republican, Pennsylvania State Senate, 1860-1862; died, November 24, 1866, New Castle, Lawrence County, Pennsylvania; interment, Greenwood Cemetery, New Castle, Lawrence County, Pennsylvania.
