Doctor Matthew Henderson, born 1770, Salisbury Township, Lancaster County, Province of Pennsylvania, British Colonial America; son of Matthew and Rachel Henderson; received a classical education; studied medicine; physician, Lancaster County; elected, Federalist, Pennsylvania State House of Representatives, 1820-1822; elected, Federalist, Pennsylvania State Senate 1822-1826; resumed medical career; engaged, farming; died, April 27, 1835; interment, Saint John's Episcopal Church Cemetery, Compass, Chester County, Pennsylvania.
