STURLA, Peter Michael, a Representative from Lancaster County; born in Lancaster County, Pa., February 18, 1956; graduated, Garden Spot High School, 1974; B.A., environmental design, University of Kansas, 1979; founder, Sturla Bros., Inc; founder, Aarchitrave, Inc.; elected, council, Lancaster City (1987-1990); member, Lancaster County Planning Commission (1990-1991); elected as a Democrat to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 1991 term; reelected to the House for 16 more consecutive terms; elected, Majority Policy Committee Chair (2009-2010); elected, Minority Policy Committee Chair (2011-2020); appointed, Task Force on Higher Education Funding (1994); appointed, Legislative Commission on Restructuring Pennsylvania's Urban Schools (1997); appointed, Select Committee on Alternatives for the Operation of the Philadelphia International Airport (2000); appointed, Deputy Whip (2003-2004); appointed, Chesapeake Bay Commission (2007-present); appointed, Capitol Preservation Committee (2011-present); appointed, Special Education Funding Commission (2019-2020); appointed, Basic Education Funding Commission (2021-present); elected, delegate, Democratic National Convention (2004, 2008, 2012).
