WILLIAMS, Jewell, a Representative from Philadelphia County; born, September 8, 1957 in Philadelphia, Philadelphia County, Pa.; graduated, Murrell Dobbins Vocational & Technical High School, 1975; graduated, Philadelphia Police Academy, 1986; attended, Holy Family College, 1987; officer, Temple University Police Department; community liaison, Temple University; chief, Criminal Operations, Philadelphia Sheriff’s Office; leader, 16th Ward Democratic Executive Committee; elected as a Democrat to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 2001 term; reelected to serve 5 more consecutive terms; appointed, Speaker's Commission on Legislative Reform (2007); resigned from the House, January 9, 2012; elected, Sheriff of the City and County of Philadelphia (2012-2020).
