Born August 28, 1943, in Butler, the son of S. Gibson and Helene Burns Armstrong; graduated from Westminster College, BBA 1965; Captain, Intelligence Officer, Naval Nuclear Weapons Courier, U.S. Marine Corps, 1966-1969; received Vietnam commendation ribbons; voted Outstanding Young Men of America, 1979; Outstanding Service Award, Friendship Force International, 1983; selected to Who’s Who in Politics; served on Gov. Thornburgh’s Blue Ribbon Panel on Workers’ Compensation; board member Lancaster Bible College; Lancaster Economic Development Council; Lancaster General Hospital Board; State Board of Tobacco Settlement; chair, Appropriations Committee; various charitable and civic clubs; state house of Representatives, 1976-1984; married Martha Wilson.
