BELFANTI, Robert E., Jr., a Representative from Columbia, Montour, Northumberland and Schuylkill Counties; born in Danville, Montour County, Pa., October 15, 1948; graduated, Mount Carmel High School, 1966; attended, University of North Carolina, 1970-1971; sergeant, United States Marine Corps (1967-1971; Vietnam War, 1968-1969); residential contractor; member, Northumberland County Parks and Recreation Commission (1975-1981); member, Pennsylvania Young Democrats (1972-1980); member, Democratic State Committee (1976-1980); appointed, Pennsylvania Unemployment Advisory Council; elected as a Democrat to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 1981 term and served 14 consecutive terms thereafter; appointed, Special Bipartisan Committee to Investigate Industrial Plant Closings (1984); appointed, Select Committee to Study the Availability of and Need for Services to Handicapped Persons 21 Years of Age or Older (1985-1986); appointed, Select Committee on the Operational Aspects of the Emaus Orphan House (1986); appointed, Pennsylvania MILRITE Council (1989-1995); appointed, vice-chair, Select Committee to Investigate the Divestiture of State General Hospitals (1990); not a candidate for reelection to the House (2010); died, October 29, 2016 in Mount Carmel, Northumberland County, Pennsylvania; interred, Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville, Lebanon County, Pennsylvania.
