Kolter; elected as a Democrat to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives in 1984; reelected to 11 consecutive terms thereafter; elected, Minority Whip (1998-2006); appointed, House Select Committee on Long Term Care (1987-1988); appointed, House Select Committee on Violence (1994); appointed, Joint State Government Commission (1999-2006); appointed, board, State Employees Retirement System (2001-2006); appointed, Governor’s Task Force on Education and Job Training; vice chair, Pennsylvania State Democratic Committee; unsuccessful campaign for reelection to the House (2006); unsuccessful campaign, United States Congress (1992).
