TANGRETTI, Thomas A., a Representative from Westmoreland County; born in Pittsburgh, Allegheny County, Pa., September 20, 1946; graduated, Jeanette High School; B.A., Indiana University of Pennsylvania, 1968; M.P.A., University of Pittsburgh, 1974; served, United States Army Reserves (1968-1974); administrative assistant, United States Congressman John H. Dent (1968-1978); elected, controller, Westmoreland County (1983-1988); elected to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives as a Democrat in 1988; reelected to 9 consecutive terms thereafter; appointed, Local Government Commission (2001-2008); appointed, Select Committee on Information Security (2006); appointed, Speaker's Commission on Legislative Reform (2007); not a candidate for reelection to the House (2008); professor, “Pennsylvania State Government,” Seton Hill University (2008).
