FAIRCHILD, Russell H., a Representative from Snyder and Union Counties; born in Sunbury, Northumberland County, Pa., February 19, 1947; graduated, Lewisburg Area Joint High School, 1965; A.S., engineering, The Pennsylvania State University, 1967; served, Infantry Platoon Leader, United States Army (1967-1969, Vietnam War); president, Fairchild Brothers, Inc. (1969-1988); president, G.R.F. Services, Inc. (1979-1987); committeeman, Union Township (1972-1974); elected as a Republican to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 1989 term and served 11 consecutive terms; appointed, Select Committee on Land Use and Growth Management (1990); appointed, Chesapeake Bay Commission (1999-2010; vice-chair, 2001, chair, 2002); appointed, co-chair, Select Committee on Alternatives for the Operation of the Philadelphia International Airport (2000); appointed, Select Committee on Information Security (2006); not a candidate for reelection to the House (2010).
