Subject: | Cystic Fibrosis Month |
In the near future, I will be introducing a resolution recognizing May as Cystic Fibrosis Month. Cystic Fibrosis is an inherited progressive disease that affects the lungs and digestive system of more than 1,600 children and adults in the Pennsylvania, more than 30,000 in the United States and about 70,000 worldwide. In the 1950s, few children with cystic fibrosis lived to attend school. Today, advances in research and treatment make it likely that many people with Cystic Fibrosis will live into their 30s and beyond. Early detection permits early treatment and enhancement of the longevity and quality of life. I hope you will join in co-sponsoring this resolution to help increase awareness and hope. |
