MEMORANDUM

Posted: December 15, 2017 12:01 PM
From: Senator Mike Folmer
To: All Senate members
Subject: Resolution (Informed Consent): Repeal of the 1986 National Childhood Vaccine Injury Act

In addition to my “Informed Consent” legislation to require patients be given information on the potential risks and benefits of vaccinations before they consent to a vaccination, I will also be introducing a Resolution calling upon Congress to repeal the 1986 National Childhood Vaccine Injury Act. This federal law prevents those harmed by a vaccine from suing pharmaceutical companies making these products.

As noted in the cosponsorship on my proposed legislation, I believe the ability to make decisions about what goes into our bodies is a basic human right – Only with informed consent are people able to exercise their basic human right to decide whether or not to allow intrusion into their bodies.

As I find the 1986 National Childhood Vaccine Injury Act violates these rights by limiting options to refuse vaccinations or seek due process of law, I will be calling for its repeal.

I hope you will join with me in this pro-patient proposal.
