Subject: | Unpaid Parking Ticket Collections in Philadelphia |
In the near future, I plan to introduce legislation to reasonably limit the collection period for unpaid parking tickets in Philadelphia. Currently, there is no time limit on these collections and it has come to light that the Philadelphia Parking Authority is taking action on tickets that are over 20 years old. While I believe parking tickets that are rightfully due should be paid, I also believe that the chance that evidence has been preserved to fight a ticket from two decades ago is highly unlikely and unreasonable. For this reason, I will be introducing legislation to limit the collection period for unpaid tickets to eight years from the date of issuance. This is a similar window to that of the collection period in New York City. Please join me in sponsoring this important piece of legislation. |
