MEMORANDUM

From: Senator John C. Rafferty, Jr. and Sen. Richard L. Alloway, II
To: All Senate members
Subject: Resolution Commemorating the 50th Anniversary of the Physician Assistant Profession

In the very near future, we will be introducing a resolution commemorating the 50th anniversary of the physician assistant profession.

Quality, affordable and accessible patient-centered healthcare, provided by physician assistants, contributes to the well-being and quality of life of all patients in this Commonwealth. Physician assistants practice in all settings and specialties, including the diagnosis and treatment of disease, assisting in surgery and prescribing medications. Physician assistants are a valuable asset to the medical team and enhance the delivery of high-quality healthcare for patients, often in medically underserved and rural areas. Physician assistants have been improving patient outcomes and moving healthcare forward since the creation of the profession. For 50 years, physician assistants have earned the trust of general public for their dedication and contributions to patients’ lives.

Please join us in recognizing physician assistants for the significant impact they have made and the top notch healthcare they have provided over the past five decades.
