Subject: | Designating the week of October 16, 2017 as “Community College Completion Week” in Pennsylvania |
In the near future, I plan to introduce a resolution designating the week of October 16, 2017 as “Community College Completion Week” in Pennsylvania. The vision of Pennsylvania’s 14 community colleges is to increase the workforce readiness skills and educational attainment level of Pennsylvanians to create a productive workforce and vibrant economy. These community colleges embrace the comprehensive mission of what it means to be a community college: to provide high-quality, affordable and accessible higher education and workforce training. One of the many benefits of earning a community college degree or certificate is that students tend to excel professionally. Students with a degree or certificate regularly earn $250k more over a lifetime than someone with only a high school degree. For this, and many other reasons, it is important that we encourage Pennsylvania students to complete the process of obtaining their degree. I ask that you join me in co-sponsoring this resolution. |
