Subject:	Confidential License Plate Registration

In the near future, I plan to re-introduce legislation – SB 618 of the 2015-16 Session – to provide confidential license plate registration upon request for all judges, district justices, district attorneys, law enforcement agencies performing undercover and surveillance work and Commonwealth department secretaries and deputy secretaries. Information regarding the identity of the registrant would not be released unless there is a written request from a law enforcement agency with approval by the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) or by a court order. Additionally, if the registrant’s information would be subsequently released, then the registrant would be notified of the identity of the requester by PennDOT. SB 618 was sponsored by GREENLEAF, YAW, HUGHES, BROWNE and BOSCOLA. Please join me in co-sponsoring this legislation to maintain the privacy of these officials.
