Subject: | Memo: Resolution condemning the violence in Israel |
In the near future I will offer a resolution expressing support of Israel and in condemnation of Palestinian terror attacks. This resolution would remember the lives of Ido ben Ari (42), Ilana Naveh (39), Michael Feige (58), and Mila Mishayev (32), murdered June 8th in the midst of birthday parties and family dinners in Tel Aviv by two Palestinian terrorists. The brutal terrorist attack in the heart of Tel Aviv had all the hallmarks of similar acts where gunmen opened fire on innocent civilians in Brussels, Nairobi, Paris and San Bernardino. There have been 218 terror attacks--shootings, stabbings, car rammings and suicide bombings--against Israeli citizens since September 11th, an average of nearly one every day. These attacks, which are praised by Hamas and celebrated in Gaza and the West Bank. Despite these attacks, Israel and Israelis desire and seek peace. A lasting peace of two states for two peoples that puts an end to the conflict. A stable peace can only be built through direct negotiations between the parties who stand to be affected most. Please join me in co-sponsoring this resolution. |
