Subject: Earth Day Resolution 2016 - Co-sponsorship Memo
 
On Tuesday, April 12th, I plan to introduce a resolution recognizing Friday, April 22nd as the 46th Anniversary of Earth Day.

After witnessing the 1969 oil spill in Santa Barbara, Wisconsin Senator Gaylord Nelson decided it was time to force the idea of environmental protection into the national political agenda. He soon assembled a staff and declared April 22nd, 1970 to be the first Earth Day.

This resolution will convey the message started by Senator Nelson and promote the citizens of the Commonwealth to join in Earth Day activities or to partake in any program that may benefit the environment.

Please join me in preserving the environment on this historical day by cosponsoring this resolution.
