Subject: Trial for Certain Criminal Offenses Involving Firearms
 
In the near future I will be introducing legislation that will require a trial by jury for anybody charged with a drug offense involving a firearm or replica of a firearm; even if the firearm wasn't used.

The Attorney General or district attorney prosecuting the offense will be prohibited from entering any plea agreement or any other agreement with the person charged that would otherwise exempt them from sentencing mandated under Section 9712 of Title 42. In addition, any person charged with such an offense involving a firearm or replica of a firearm may not be subject to any trial other than a trial by jury.
