Subject: | Resolution in Support of Federal Legislation Expanding Assistance to Caregivers of Veterans |
Please join me in co-sponsoring a resolution urging Congress to pass H.R. 2894, the “Caregivers Access and Responsible Expansion for All Veterans Act,” or the “CARE for All Veterans Act." For many of our veterans, the most important care and support they receive isn’t found in a VA Clinic or Hospital, but right at home – and the most important care provider isn’t necessarily their doctor or nurse, but a family member or loved one. These are the true Caregivers – family and friends who dedicate their livelihood, their love, and their support to improving the quality of life for our Veterans. In 2010, Congress passed and the President signed into law P.L. 111-163, the “Caregivers and Veterans Omnibus Services Act,” which provides education, training, stress management, and support groups to caregivers of post 9/11 veterans. HR 2894 would expand the assistance to caregivers of all veterans. There are many veterans and caregivers that are in need of this assistance and are unfortunately excluded from this federal benefit. Please join me in cosponsoring this measure, which assists those that are caring for those that served our nation. The American Legion and the Military Officers Association of America support HR 2894. If you have any questions, please contact Nate Silcox of my staff at 717-787-6538. |
