Subject: Resolution designating November as "COPD Awareness Month" in Pennsylvania
 
Please join me in co-sponsoring a resolution designating November 2015 as "COPD Awareness Month" in Pennsylvania.

Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) is a term used to describe airflow obstruction that is associated mainly with emphysema and chronic bronchitis, affects an estimated 714,000 Pennsylvania residents and is the fourth leading cause of death in the Commonwealth.

I am introducing this resolution to promote greater awareness and increase early diagnosis of the disease in order to save lives and reduce health care costs.
