|Subject:||CPR Training Program for High School Students|
|I plan to introduce legislation focused on the importance of reducing death from the more than 326,000 cardiac arrests that occur outside of a hospital each year, and helping to prepare individuals to save lives through cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and the use of an automated external defibrillator (AED).
Specifically, this legislation would add a hands-only, 30-minute CPR training program to the state education curriculum for high school students.
This initiative is a priority of both the American Heart Association and Pennsylvania Chapter of the American Heart Association.
21 other states have adopted this policy, most recently West Virginia and Delaware.
Introduced as SB948
