Subject: | Resolution – Honoring the 200th Anniversary of Susquehanna Township |
In the near future, I plan on introducing a resolution honoring the 200th anniversary of Susquehanna Township. Susquehanna Township was founded in 1815 out of Lower Paxtang County. The Township quickly grew from a small population of 2,264 in 1870 to 11,081 in 1950. Susquehanna Township was also a vital industrial area for coal, charcoal, and iron, which were transported on the Susquehanna River. Historical landmarks, such as Fort Hunter and the Rockville Bridge are located in Susquehanna Township. Fort Hunter was established in 1720 and is currently a museum, and the Rockville Bridge, built in 1900, is the longest stone arch bridge in the world with 48 arches. I hope you will join me in honoring the history, people, and landmarks of Susquehanna Township by co-sponsoring this resolution. |
