Senate of Pennsylvania
Session of 2015 - 2016 Regular Session

MEMORANDUM

Posted: April 28, 2015 12:17 PM
From: Senator Christine M. Tartaglione
To: All Senate members
Subject: Sen. Tartaglione - Law Month Resolution

In the near future, I will be introducing a resolution recognizing the month of May 2015 as Law Month in Pennsylvania.

On May 1, 2015, the Pennsylvania Bar Association will launch its annual Law Day program, recognizing the importance of our court systems and professionals working within the field of law. This year, the theme of Law Day is Magna Carta: Symbol of Freedom Under Law. As an international emblem for the rule of law, Magna Carta provides the foundation for our most basic liberties. In celebrating this document, Magna Carta remains a beacon of hope in the on-going efforts to secure human rights for citizens in every country. Further, it reminds us that the law applies to everyone—no one is exempt from it.

This year, during Law Month, the Pennsylvania Bar Association will be hosting activities throughout Pennsylvania in recognition of our legal and judicial systems, as well as in celebration of the Law Day theme. School students will be visited in their classrooms to learn about the history and significance of Magna Carta in this state and nation. Residents will be encouraged to take part in community events throughout the month and to become better acquainted with the many freedoms they have come to know and cherish in our society today. At this time, I hope you will join me in showing your appreciation for Magna Carta. Please co-sponsor this resolution recognizing May 2015 as Law Month in the commonwealth.
