Subject: | Firearm Storage Device Sales Tax Exclusion |
In the near future I will be re-introducing legislation amending the act of March 4, 1971, known as the Tax Reform Code, to exclude lockable firearm storage equipment from sales tax. Specifically, the sales tax exclusion includes the sale at retail or use of any gun vault, gun safe, gun locker, gun cabinet, trigger lock, handgun vault, handgun locker, gun cable lock, gun lever lock, handgun safe, locking gun case with key or combination lock or any and all devices which do not allow use of the firearm without a key or combination. This legislation will encourage firearm owners to purchase and use firearm safety equipment. This is a commonsense effort to incentivize the safe and responsible storage of firearms. Previous co-sponsors included Senators Alloway, Brubaker, Costa, Kasunic, Robbins, Scarnati, Teplitz, Waugh, and White. If you have any questions regarding this legislation, please contact Nathan Akers in my office at 787-9684 or nakers@pasen.gov. |
